Article overlap

Do we really need both Online advertising and Digital marketing? There's a lot of overlap. Is there a better way to split up the subject? John Nagle (talk) 08:00, 27 October 2015 (UTC)

This article appears to only address the Online advertising part of Digital marketing, while incorrectly used interchangeably in the vernacular, Marketing, including Digital marketing encompasses more than Advertising. Market research, the process of gathering information about customers and target customers as well as Product management and Product strategy are important components to consider when discussing Marketing and Digital marketing. Digital Marketing

Digital marketing is a way by which website visibility is increased. Multiple channels are used in Digital Marketing.

  • SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
  • SMO (Social Media Optimization)
  • SEM (Search Engine Marketing)
  • SMM (Social media Marketing)
  • Email Marketing
  • Affiliate Marketing

These given channels are used in Digital marketing.

Citation 2 is not referenced correctly since it results in a broken link ( Similarly Citation 18 also from ebsco results in a broken link.

Aside from two references to citations, rest of the Advantages and limitations section (consisting of 11 prographs) is not cited. For example, reference to Rindfleisch, 2016 is made without a reference. The tone of the last couple paragraphs and especially the last sentence (And hence the reflection of digital marketing into real sales volume is skeptical.[]) also seems partial and is lacking a reference.

I've taken the liberty of trimming back the material you are proposing to add to the article. It is unsourced and feels promotional, and a simple search shows that you have copied this material from a company's pitch page. We cannot plagiarize and/or violate the copyrights of other entities. Digital marketing- 5.Latest developments and strategies Paragraph 3 Online behavioral advertising

Digital advertising is moving in the direction of growth and development. Online publishers and advertisers have recently become more interested in the use of online advertising. Online behavioral advertising (OBA) is a targeted form of advertising. The online action advertising (OBA) system consists of four main players: advertisers, agents, publishers, and customers. Behavioral targets use the information collected (from the page a person have visited, or search for) to display ads (Chen & Stallaert, 2014). For the OBA, it is necessary to collect data about online surfing behavior. They usually use cookies to determine customers' interest, based on what customers are visiting, what clicking on and what doing online.

However, in order to provide true consent, it is critical for web users to understand the mechanisms of OBA and cookies. It is enough for web users to care about their privacy and how they experience OBA, cookies, and requests for approval. An online track is briefly introduced following the new European cookie rules (Backes, Kate, Maffei & Pecina, 2012). Knowledge is still not enough to gain a superior understanding of this new advertising technology. In addition, the results showed that there was no difference in knowledge among the users of the Internet, although they were different on privacy issues. Privacy groups comparison shows that when communication OBA need to adopt dual method, it is not only about the information, but also can reduce concerns, especially in the elderly and the low education level groups.

The third paragraph, third line, speaks about Email direct marketing, can we add email marketing in brackets and put this link? this will help people to check the information at the first fold itself. I checked the link is put down on the second fold. I think we can link email marketing right there which is the appropriate place. Andrew Das (talk) 17:56, 19 May 2017 (UTC)

The concept of content marketing needs to be added to the channel types. It is a form of marketing focused on creating, publishing and distributing content for a targeted audience online and is a huge part of most digital marketing strategies. JLogozzo (talk) 13:54, 25 August 2017 (UTC)

Per the tag, this should absolutely be merged. Digital marketing is a better article than digital promotion and they basically discuss the same exact thing. What is the next step? ThaiTee (talk) 16:22, 18 December 2017 (UTC)

Proposed merge with Digital marketing channels in the sharing economy

Over-specific sub-article that does not differentiate the merged concept from sharing economy or digital marketing. 49ersBelongInSanFrancisco (talk) 07:25, 15 March 2018 (UTC)

  • Support per nomination: if this ever gets large enough that it needs a separate article, it can always be split off. It's also got a slightly essay-like tone, so can be trimmed down a bit for the merge. The Mighty Glen (talk) 08:09, 16 March 2018 (UTC)

Proposed merge with History of Digital Marketing

This article has a history section, but a short article called History of Digital Marketing has just been created. ... discospinster talk 15:10, 16 March 2018 (UTC)

There is substantially less content in that article than in this one, and I really don't see anything significant there which is not here too, so there really isn't anything to merge. I shall instead delete that article and redirect it here. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 16:23, 18 March 2018 (UTC)
